Practice
It's great language practice to listen in on radio talk shows and music in the target language. There are many on-line Spanish language radio stations available. If you're a beginner, you'll notice that you can pick up a word here and there. As time goes by, you'll hear even more. First, listen for "cognates" words that sound similar in Spanish and English; 33% of the Spanish language is like this, i.e. universidad & computadora. Before long, you'll know many Spanish words and phrases, just by listening in!

The radio is one of the oldest and most dominant forms of communication. It gives us news, entertainment and a view of our culture. It is a symbol of our time, both old and new, by traditional airwaves and transmitted on the web. It's important that we keep radio available to all and representative of all our people!

Consider the Source
Media consolidation is diminishing diversity on the radio. A new study concludes that while ethnic minorities constitute 33% of the U.S. population, only 7.7% of them own the radio stations. While there are multitudes of new, important topics that resound in the media recently (the environment, the presidential election, global warming), it is important to consider the source from which we inform ourselves. We should promote a media that reflects the diversity of our all our citizens!

My daughter wants to learn Spanish and she works in the medical field. Which program would be best for her? Also, I want to learn general Spanish so I can talk to people in different industries who speak Spanish, which one should I purchase?
Answer: The best program for your daughter would be the "Spanish for Health Care". This has the vocabulary she'll need for the medical industry. It is available on on website: www.spanishonthejob.com We suggest the "Spanish for Conversation" for anyone who wants to learn general Spanish. It includes greetings, expressing opinions, basic vocabulary, etc. This program is only available in our 2 CD job-specific package or by calling us direct at 800-678-0800.
Each month we highlight a question or comment from our friends & customers. Please contact us if you would like to ask or respond to a question or would like to make your "voice" heard. We look forward to hearing from you!
